The Graduate's Grind: Brigham Young University- Idaho

Welcome to The Graduate's Grind!

Millions of people have experienced the nerve-wracking search for the right college to attend. Likely they have felt frustration at the options and the expense of visiting dozens of college campuses in order to “get a feel” for what universities are like. And once they pick a college, more often than not, they dive into their first semester and realize there are a lot of issues and facets specific to that university that they wish they had known about before signing up for classes or living quarters.

I know I’ve been there. When I started looking at colleges, I felt like I was treading water without knowing how to swim. I had no idea what to look for! I couldn’t afford to travel to campuses, and the websites worked more like sales gimmicks than like helpful information sources—and besides that, navigating them was a nightmare. Finally, I decided to narrow down to two or three schools. I picked the one that had the most user-friendly web site—Brigham Young University-Idaho.

My first semester I spent all my time in my apartment, doing homework; I had no car, and no idea about any of the social events or activities available to me within walking distance. Now that I’m a seasoned student, I feel like I really know the ins and outs of the university’s academic policies and can always find something to do when I’m bored. But I wish I had known more when I first enrolled; my early college experience could have been much more memorable.

I am not the only one who has had an experience similar to this. That is why we at Gideon Publishing have created this magazine,
The Graduate’s Grind-- to spotlight different universities from the eyes of the students who attend them and thus give prospective students a heads up and a close look at the universities they may be considering. This month's issue focuses on Brigham Young University-Idaho. We are very excited about this publication. Its contents offer insights on the university’s unique academic and social opportunities, and include many student opinions and recommendations on issues relevant to students at this school. If you are looking for a college to attend, look at our magazine and find topics that the websites and brochures do not include—all from the point of view of the students enrolled there. After all, they are the ones with the real experience.

Thanks to our fantastic editorial board here at Gideon Publishing for their fine work in creating this publication. Take a look at
The Graduate’s Grind and find the college that fits you!

 Sincerely,
